Blam Map Information Files (.mapinfo)#

Map Information Files are used to store additional metadata for known levels. For example, if you were to have a series of campaign levels, each as a separate cache file, but you wanted to display a description or display name with them.

In most cases, when you want to allow the user to load into a new scenario, a .mapinfo should be used during that procedure. Additionally, mapinfo files allow for levels to be dynamically loaded or added later - either as official DLC or community-made levels. While you are able (and in some cases may wish) to load levels manually with game scripts, you should use mapinfo files anytime you wish to present a list of possible levels to the player.
